The inception of the Women Alliance for Peace Building (WAPB) highlights the critical need for peace and gender equality in conflict-affected regions. Formed by a visionary group of women peace activists and gender equality advocates, WAPB was established in response to the underutilized potential of women as pivotal agents for peace and societal change. These founders identified significant gaps in traditional peacebuilding efforts, notably the exclusion of women from peace processes and systemic inequalities limiting their participation. Inspired by the Wajir Peace and Development Agency’s (WPDA) longstanding dedication to peacebuilding and conflict resolution in Wajir and beyond, WAPB has expanded its mission over the year and formally registered as an NGO in 2024. Emphasizing the empowerment of women and girls, WAPB intends to forge strategic alliances with entities that support women empowerment including local and international donor’s organization thereby extending its influence to surrounding counties.
